Unless specified otherwise, the code for this project is copyright 2006-2024 © Sudley Place Software, and is released as Free Software licensed under an agreement called the GNU General Public License, Version 3 or later.

However, some individual files are licensed separately, including, but not limited to, the following files:

Individual Files

• GNU Scientific Library (of which we use a subset): This collection of routines is described as "distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL)."
• Hash routines by Bob Jenkins: They are described in the initial comments in the file bjhash.c to be in the public domain.
• Wine library of Windows Emulation routines (of which we use a subset): The website says "The licensing terms are the GNU Lesser General Public License version 2.1."
• Numeric input/output conversion routines by David M. Gay: These two routines are licensed under the terms described in the initial comments in the two files dtoa.c and g_fmt.c.
• The SImPL medium font bundled with NARS2000 is Copyright (©) Amadeus Information Systems Limited, 1996-2004, Copyright (©) Phil Chastney, 2005-2008, and is licensed for distribution with NARS2000 only.
• GMP-ECM library is licensed as LGPL Version 2.1.
• MPC library is licensed as LGPL Version 3 (or at the user's option any later version of the license).
• MPFR library is licensed as LGPL Version 3 (or at the user's option any later version of the license).
• MPIR library is licensed as LGPL Version 3 (or at the user's option any later version of the license).
• FLINT library is licensed as LGPL Version 2.1+.
• ARB library is licensed as LGPL Version 2.1 or later.
• MPFFT library is unlicensed.
• The source code for the above seven libraries as used to make the static libraries linked to by NARS2000 is available for download. This file is large (~467MB) and is needed by developers who want to modify the libraries, and is required to be available by the terms of LGPL. For the most part, the binary versions of the libraries available on the Downloads page is sufficient.
• The iniparser code is incorporated into this project via the MIT license as per the comment in the files iniparser.c, dictionary.c, and dictionary.h.
• The implementation of Kuhn's Hungarian Algorithm Copyright (©) 2011 Mattias Andrée is released as free software under the license described in the source code.
• The implementation of CRQ (Correctly Rounded Quadrature) is licensed as LGPL Version 2.1+.
